The Lion and the Owl

The sentimentalist fell in love with the pragmatist.
It was a curious union.

He, having seen his death, loved everything and
Everyone. Seize this love on this plane, now. Regardless.

She, knowing the universe’s plan, loved only
Carefully and few. Wounded too deeply: be cautious, be cold.

The thing ran its course. Passion expended and skills honed,
Till the shattering ending came. He was consumed by fire
And she turned to stone, in another victory for Tragedy.

As a poet in New Hampshire, I find inspiration from all around me, at every season. Most of my writings are an attempt to process emotions too strong for  everyday living--those which disturb my sleep and infiltrate my waking.
